The lore associated with the Tibetan Spaniel maintains that in the Buddhist monasteries the Tibbie was the constant companion of the monks.From warming their beds to alerting from the monastery walls to spinning the prayer wheels for their meditating masters ,the Tibetan spaniel had a very revered position . Some even say they were monks who had reincarnated in this precious little body. They were given as highly esteemed gifts, never sold, especially the smallest ones and the Blacks were a particular treasure.
Ann Wynard and Braeduke
Ann Lindsay Wynyard and Her Braeduke Tibetan Spaniels are the foundation of many modern day Tibbies in the states and in Europe. She produced some of the finest dogs in the history of the breed. She wrote two books The Dogs of Tibet and the History of the Tibetan Spaniel, The Tibetan Spaniel Handbook. If you can find them they are truly worth the read.
